Do you remember long ago when Senator Obama promised that one of the first things he would do as President if elected is that he would bring our troops home from Afghanistan?
Well, that turned out to be complete bullshit. Now, despite a shred of evidence of its success in this 17 year old war, Senator John McCain, who may actually die within 18 months due to a brain tumor, is calling to push for more war in that region.
It does not seem quite so fair for all those US troops who will go there, and if they survive, only to come back home to face a long life of recovery from PTSD.
RT reports on this insane Senator’s remarks:
“We must face facts: We are losing in Afghanistan and time is of the essence if we intend to turn the tide…”
Add to this:
“The US is estimated to have spent over $700 billion on military assistance, reconstruction and economic aid to Afghanistan in the past 17 years.”
Furthermore, since Afghanistan is the world’s leading producer of opium:
“In 2016, the illicit production potentially grew a whopping 43 percent in Afghanistan and reached 4,800 tons, according to SIGAR.”
Think about all that Trump is pushing for already: another round of sanctions against Russia (while the lies of Russian interference into US elections are still hovering around), open talk of nuclear engagement with North Korea like it is the “normal” thing we should do, creating another civil war in Venezuela to help out Exxon is the “right” and “necessary” thing to do, continue to push for Syrian regime change and balkanization, and we need to prepare for war against Iran – and I still haven’t covered it all!
This is MAGA! Think long and hard about that. Very few Americans are.
